Before choosing skincare, it helps to understand whether your skin has always been easily flushed, has become irritated by your routine, or is struggling with changes in its environment.

First Things First: Not All Redness Has the Same Cause

  • Naturally rosy or easily flushed

    Some people have always had rosy cheeks or skin that flushes easily.

    That doesn’t automatically mean their skincare is wrong. The important questions are whether the redness is familiar, whether it has changed, and whether the skin feels comfortable.

  • Skin that has become sensitised

    Strong cleansers, frequent exfoliation and layering several active products can leave skin feeling tight, dry, stinging or easily irritated.

    Sometimes the first step is to simplify what you are using and stop adding to the irritation.

  • Weather and indoor heating

    Cold wind outside. Warm, dry air inside.

    In Ireland, we regularly move between these conditions. Your skin can feel dry and uncomfortable even when the weather outside is damp.

    The aim is to help your skin hold onto moisture and stay protected.

  • Oily skin still need moisture

    Oiliness and hydration are different things.

    Skin can look shiny while also feeling tight or uncomfortable. Cleansing harder or skipping moisturiser may add to that discomfort.

  • Persistent redness needs a closer look

    Ongoing redness can have several causes, including rosacea, eczema or a reaction to something touching the skin.

    A suitable routine may improve comfort, but persistent or worsening redness may need assessment by your GP or dermatologist.
