  • What is a Brazilian wax?

    A Brazilian wax removes most of the hair from the intimate area while leaving a small strip or triangle at the front.

    Hair is removed from:

    ✓ The sides of the bikini area
    ✓ The labia
    ✓ Between the legs
    ✓ The bum area

    A small amount of hair is left at the front and can be shaped neatly.

    If you want absolutely everything removed, a Hollywood wax is the better choice.

  • Is a Brazilian wax right for me?

    A Brazilian wax is a good choice if you:

    ✓ Want most of the hair removed but don't want to be completely bare
    ✓ Prefer a small strip or triangle left at the front
    ✓ Are fed up with shaving and shaving rash
    ✓ Want a neat, low-maintenance result

Nervous about your first Brazilian wax?

This is probably the biggest thing clients worry about.

You will need to remove your underwear for parts of the treatment, but we'll keep things professional and straightforward and tell you where we need you to move or position yourself.

There is no judgement and no need to feel embarrassed. Intimate waxing is a normal part of our working day.

And yes — the first wax can be uncomfortable. We're not going to tell you that you won't feel it.

But we work efficiently, use professional Harley Wax and try to make the treatment as quick and comfortable as we can.

▣ Before your Brazilian wax

• A patch test is required before waxing at Freya. If it has been more than 6 months since your last waxing appointment with us, you’ll need a new patch test before your treatment.
• Leave enough hair growth for the wax to grip properly. If you’re unsure, don’t trim it too short before your appointment.
• Gently exfoliate the area before your wax.
• Avoid heavy lotions, oils or heavily fragranced products on the area on the day of your appointment.
• Let us know if you are taking medication or using skincare that may make your skin more sensitive.

✿ What happens during the treatment?

We’ll talk you through the treatment and tell you exactly where we need you to move or position yourself.

You will need to remove your underwear for parts of a Hollywood wax, but we keep the treatment professional, straightforward and as comfortable as possible.

A Hollywood wax removes all of the hair from the front, underneath and back. We use professional Harley Wax and work efficiently so the treatment is done properly without dragging it out.

If it’s your first Hollywood wax, you may find it more uncomfortable than someone who waxes regularly, but we’ll guide you through it as we go.

♡ Aftercare

• Your skin may look red or feel warm immediately after waxing.
• Avoid hot baths, saunas, swimming, intense exercise and excessive heat for 24–48 hours.
• Avoid sunbathing and tanning beds for 24–48 hours.
• Avoid perfumed or heavily fragranced products on the waxed area while the skin is settling.
• Moisturise the area regularly.
• Once the skin has settled, exfoliate around once a week to help reduce ingrown hairs.

How long does a Brazilian wax last?

Most of our regular Hollywood waxing clients book around every 6–8 weeks, although everyone’s hair growth is different.

If you have been shaving, your first few waxes can have hair growing at different stages. As you continue waxing regularly, your appointments usually become easier to maintain.

Questions I get asked about Brazilian Waxing

Do I need a patch test for a Brazilian wax?


Yes. A waxing patch test is required at Freya. If it has been more than 6 months since your last waxing appointment with us, you will need a new patch test before your treatment.

What's the difference between a Brazilian and Hollywood wax?

A Hollywood removes everything.

A Brazilian removes the hair from the sides, labia, underneath and back while leaving a small strip or triangle at the front.

Does a Brazilian wax hurt?


It can be uncomfortable, especially if it’s your first wax or you have been shaving. We work quickly and use Harley Wax to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.

How long should I leave between Brazilian waxes?


We generally recommend around 6–8 weeks, depending on your own hair growth.

How long should the hair be?


The hair needs to be long enough for the wax to grip properly. If you are unsure, it is better to leave it rather than trimming it too short.

Can I have a Brazilian wax while I’m on my period?


Yes, but the area can be more sensitive at this time. You will need to use a tampon or menstrual cup during the treatment.

Can I exercise after my wax?


We recommend avoiding intense exercise for 24–48 hours, especially if the area still feels warm or sensitive.

Can I swim, use a sauna or have a hot bath afterwards?


Avoid swimming, saunas, hot baths and excessive heat for 24–48 hours after waxing.

Can I sunbathe after a Brazilian wax?


Avoid strong sun and tanning beds for 24–48 hours after your wax.
